Another Dragon Ball Z Game?!

That's gotta hurt.
That’s gotta hurt.

A new year, a new Dragon Ball Z game, a new reason to be excited. Hopefully. There’s a few things that gets the real inner kid in me excited, and one of those things happen to be Dragon Ball Z. A month before E3, Namco Bandai teased Dragon Ball Xenoverse, which is coming out for the PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3. Now normally this wouldn’t get me too excited due to Namco Bandai’s recent history with DBZ games. However, this game will bring back Dimps, the team behind the PS2 DBZ: Budokai series.

I'll kill you Goku.
I’ll kill you Goku.

During E3, Namco Bandai released a new trailer for the game that also included some gameplay and showed off some fancy current gen graphics. Judging by the look of the characters, Dimps went all out in making this game look not only amazing, but also faithful to the series. For all these good-looking characters, the real question is: “How’s the fighting?” At this stage of the reveal, the fighting looks good. The fights seem to finally capture the speed in the fights that has been a focal point in the TV show. Environments are more prone to natural destruction due to fight progression. You’ll also be able to shoot Ki beams into bodies of water and even fight under the surface. Perhaps we had to wait a generation before we got another great DBZ game. Transformations happen seamlessly in the game, no longer needing a cut scene for the transformation, or having to choose at the start of the fight to be a Super Saiyan. Now it seems you can start the fight as just a regular Goku and end as a Super Saiyan 4 Goku!

Who the hell is this guy?!
Who the hell is this guy?!

Other details for the game, such as the storyline and fighting mechanics haven’t been expounded upon yet, so we should hear more about it during Gamescom or the Tokyo Game Show. We’ve been promised a large roster by Namco Bandai and at least a single player and multiplayer mode. I don’t want to get my hopes to high only to be disappointed, but Dimps has a good grasp of the Dragon Ball Z fan base and knows how to please them. The Dragon Ball Z fan in me is looking forward to hearing more about Dragon Ball Xenoverse, and if you are too keep it locked here!
